Das alte Haus - New Translation
Apart from my usual laziness, the main reason I've been a bit lax with posting here lately is that I've been working on an English translation of Das alte Haus by Friedrich Gerstäcker, one of my favourite old German books.
Via the wonders of modern technology clicking the image above will take you to the Amazon page where you can, and probably should, buy a copy, either in eBook or paperback format.
I've always liked the book since I bought an original 1857 copy a few years ago as a random choice. It's a very curious tale, and even after reading it twice now in its original form, and several times more in German and English whilst working with AI to translate it, I'm still not exactly sure what really went on. As far as I know this is the only English translation, at least I couldn't find any others.
I'm now working on another first English translation, of a book that's been featured here a couple of times, I'll post once it's available.
